 The Richmond area The UPS Stores have joined with the Richmond Flying Squirrels and The United Way to collect "Back School Supplies" for needy area families. Beginning August 1st donations can be dropped-off at any of The UPS Store location in the Richmond area.
Items being collected are: Backpacks, Colored Pencils, Crayons (24 count), Glue Sticks, Magic Markers (Washable), Mead Composition Books, Zippered Pencil Pouches, Packages of NO. 2 pencils, Scissors (Round Tip). Spiral Note Books, Rulers, Primary Tablets, 3-Ring Binders, Loose-Lead Note Books, Erasers, 4 Pocket Folders, Scissors (pointed), Highlighters, Index Cards, Loose-Leaf Notebook Paper, Notebook Dividers, Packages of Blue, Black and Red Ink Pens, Pocket Dictionaries, Boxes of Tissues, Quart Size Boxes of Zip lock Bags.
Collection of Back to School Supplies will end Saturday, Sept 4th. On Sunday September 5th The Richmond area The UPS Stores will sponsor the Firework display following the Richmond Flying Squirrels game and will have donation bins available at the stadium for anyone wishing to make a donation at the ball park. Anyone making a donation at the park will be eligible to enter into a drawing for one of three prizes to be given away during the game. Presentation to United Way will be done during pre-game activities.

Beds For Kids
Date(s): August 1- October 16
Richmond, Virginia - Every child deserves a good night's sleep. Unfortunately, many parents in metro Richmond cannot afford a bed for their children.
Beds For Kids, Inc. invites the community to save their "pennies" for a child or teen in need of support. The Operation "Beds for Pennies" drive will run August 1- October 16. A new bed will give a child hope and the confidence needed to start the school year off on the right foot.
Operation "Beds for Pennies" donations can include:
Donations of Pennies collected now thru October 16
Any business willing to put Penny Collection Jars in their place of business.
Twin Bed Frames
New Twin Mattresses and/or Box springs
Gently used or new bed linen (any size)
New Pillows
This is also a great opportunity to involve family members, friends or co-workers. Beds For Kids, Inc. will provide all the materials needed to run drives from any location.

Beds For Kids, Inc. depends on support from individuals, corporations and community groups to ensure the Operation “Beds for Pennies” drive is a success. We are always in need of volunteers with trucks to help with picking up donations around the Richmond area.

Beds For Kids, a non-profit 501 (c) 3, is dedicated to the needs of children ages newborn to 18 years of age. Our organization is based on the belief that the children we help are of the utmost importance. It is also our belief that a comfortable bed allows for a good night's sleep and is key to a child's development and sense of well being.
Biggest Loser Richmond

Biggest Loser Richmond is a charity event to raise money for Charity Family Life (www.charityfamilylife.org) Here is our description of the contest: Lose weight and feel great all while bringing help to those in need. UVA Football Player Jon Copper and Richmond area trainers will be putting hundreds of locals through a 9 week training program where participants will not only lose weight, but build lasting relationships and a stronger community. Biggest Loser Richmond is modeled after a successful competition in Charlottesville which had over 300 participants. All proceeds of Biggest Loser Richmond will benefit Charity Family Life.
